 Background statement

My clinical experience as an occupational therapist began in 2001 and includes working in acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and long-term care with adults and geriatrics. As an occupational therapist, my treatments are focused on increasing independence, strength, mobility, and quality of life for those that have had orthopedic and neurological issues. I became interested in using yoga therapeutically after starting my own practice in 2003. I am currently certified to teach vinyasa yoga and I am registered through Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level. Currently, I am on maternity leave and I am using this time to continue my education in yoga therapy. My goal is to bridge the gap between my career as an occupational therapist and as a yoga instructor. I would like to work on the wellness and preventative side of occupational therapy and use yoga as a treatment modality.
