Feedback From Collaborators with Matthew

Visionary "Dr. Matthew J. Taylor, PT, PhD is one of those rare individuals who has a clear vision, great insight and strong commitment to his work. He inspires confidence that he'll not only do what he says he will, but do it in such a way that he'll almost always exceed your expectations. When Matt was a student at CIIS his work was innovative, but presented in such a thoughtful and well-researched way that you wondered why his ideas weren't mainstream already. Matt is a real leader in his field, combining leading research publications with the creation of an organizational network that has turned his vision into a reality."

Seminar Instructor “Matthew J. Taylor Ph.D., P.T. has raised the bar for teacher excellence in the Yoga Therapy Rx course at Loyola Marymount University. Dr. Taylor has an uncanny ability to integrate the ageless wisdom of Yoga with the best of modern medicine. His method is genius in its simplicity while honoring the best of both Yoga and emerging rehab science.   He rocked our level III classroom.”       April 26, 2010 Larry Payne Ph.D. E-RYT 500 Loyola Marymount University Yoga Therapy Program, Founding Director

Training Leader "I have known Matthew a long time as a colleague, but recently I asked him to help me with some actual therapeutic recommendation for my own situation. Now I can personally attest that Matthew is a gifted and insightful therapist with an extraordinary range of knowledge. In a different context, I have watched Matthew present a day -long seminar in the area of professional development in the field of Yoga therapy. Instead of a long lecture, Matthew immediately engaged a group of professionals in a creative and structured workshop where they could work on their own situations with the help and suggestions of their peers, as well as within Matthew's strategic model. I was quite impressed with this, and at the end of the day, I believe the whole group felt they had achieved both insight and tangible progress on their own business development needs. They also made good connections with professional colleagues that could continue past the immediate seminar."

Seminar Instructor  "Thank so much for presenting.  I thought you did an awesome job and it was the best course I have gone to.  I was thinking on the way home and I did not look at my watch once thinking "I can't wait to take a break" if you know what I mean.  Everything had a nice flow to it and it was very comfortable.  Laughter during a course has also been extremely RARE!!!!   So, thank you.  I quickly looked the responses from the participants (20) and everyone who handed one in gave YOUR  rating as "awesome or excellent."   That is also a first!" - September 17-18, 2011Rick Ness, PT, Liason for the Mayo Clinic Physical Therapy School Alumni Association.

Seminar Instructor "comments from the 2011 Mayo Clinic Course on "The DSR Method of Back Pain…Putting the Fun Back into Back Pain" by Matthew Taylor PT, PhD. I very thoroughly enjoyed this course and the information that I learned.  I self-paid for the course, and in the end was happy to do so because of the content of the course.  Matt is a relaxed, effective, and challenging speaker, utilizing conference attendees in practical examples, and us working with each other, to bring about our realization of the topics and techniques he covered. I was able to apply and utilize the information we learned, directly into my acute-care practice, and continue to utilize this with nearly every patient that I work with for guidance in their home exercise program and use while in-house. I am looking forward to taking some time for further review of the notes, his bibliography, and f/up with ongoing courses that instruct a similar philosophy regarding chronic pain."  - TB, PT

The Illinois Attorney General's Office, in cooperation with the Illinois Association of Park Districts, launched Recreation Access Illinois to promote awareness of health and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities in the state of Illinois. The Wellness Program offered by JDWI is highlighted on the RAI website under the Best Practices Section and won the 2001 'Best of the Best' Illinois Association of Rehabilitation Facilities.
Matt's leadership in designing and implementing this recreational and health program concept without a doubt allowed JDWI to move in a new direction in delivering rehabilitation services.  The core components of the program are Holistic in nature and this total person rehabilitation concept has been highlighted at the last two international disability conferences held annually in New York.

Patient Care My relationship with Matthew spanned 7 years in the capacity as a referring physician and as a patient several times. I have a great deal of respect for Matthew as a therapist. He has broad clinical acumen in physical diagnosis and superb hands-on technique in a manipulative therapy. He also has the unique ability to incorporate nontraditional techniques such as deep breathing and mindfulness attention.

I have benefited from Matthew's care following lumbar surgery, to include working through difficult post-operative scar tissue to return to pre-operative levels. This personal experience was repeated many times over in my patients who benefited from his expertise. This established Matthew as the 'Go to guy' for difficult and recalcitrant cases.
Richard Scheuring, D. O., MS Advanced Projects/Flight Surgeon UTMB/Wyle Life Science System and Services, NASA-Johnson Space Center

Patient Care "I have had the pleasure of referring many patients to Matt over the years.  The variety of skills that he brings to patients' problems, along with his warm and friendly demeanor, has consistently brought positive feedback from my patients."
Joe Garrity, M.D., emergency and family practice physician

Patient Care "Matt is one of the most thought provoking colleagues and instructors that you will meet. Although he left the Galena area over 5 years ago, we still discuss how Matt would have handled particular situations or clients. Matt gained a respect in our community that was unmatched by any other health care provider, not just physical therapist. I would recommend Matt to anyone as a clinician, a speaker, a director, etc."
